The next day of marshalling for Brecon Motor Club will be on Sunday March 8th on the Tour of Epynt. The club will be looking after the service out control near the quarry and any help would be much appreciated. Speak to chief marshal Nigel Chappelle if you can make it. The weather was great last year!!
Brecon Motor Club had a grand day out marshalling on the 2015 Wyedean Stages. The day dawned wet and miserable but quickly brightened up as the first of 180 cars were dealt with. A great turn out meant everything went smoothly with Dave McIntyre and the Liam's along with another of their friends manning the flying finish and enjoying some good spectating at the same time. Martin Leonard and Chris Phillips carried out check sheet duties and Lisa Chappelle was in charge of time cards with Dave Thomas operating the clock and James updating the timing board. Not to be forgotten of course, Nigel Chappelle was on radio having made sure that everyone was fed and watered beforehand.
We were privileged to be visited by Ben Taylor, the managing director of IMS (International Motor Sports), the MSA's wholly owned commercial subsidiary. Dave Thomas explained the art of time keeping before a visit to the lads at the flying finish where Dave McIntyre explained proceedings.
The Special Stage film crew were at the finish as well and in between interviewing drivers managed a club interview with James Chappelle. The result should be available on the internet shortly!
Brecon Motor Club will be out again on February 14th marshalling on the Wyedean Stages. It is the 40th anniversary of the rally and all under the clerkship of Phil Turley. As usual a large entry has amassed and this year there will be 180 starters.
BMC will be looking after a stage finish in Chepstow Park Wood and if anyone would like to come along they are welcome.
Signing on is at 08:30 and the grid reference for the finish is 171/4838 9761 - first competitive car is due at 10:34 - one run only so should be all done by about 1:30pm
