    WWRS CHRISTMAS STAGES

Well done to all from BMC who had a go at Pembrey yesterday, it was a great day with great weather and everyone seemed to be having a ball. First BMC crew home were Craig Jones and young Jamie Vaughan in Craig's usual Peugeot 205 GTi. Despite a failing head gasket the pair (with Jamie contesting his first rally) finished a creditable 19th overall.

Next up in 22nd overall wwas Will Arrowsmith with Matthew Farr who, I suspect, spent a lot of time looking out of the side windows!

Mike 'handbrake' Jones and Robin Moses were having fun but were mystified by Craig's outstanding pace but pushed on to a great 32nd overall. Just remember guys, youth might have something to do with it!!

Sadly, two BMC crews retired from the event, Phil Jones and Ian Jury let everyone know about their problems with smoke signals from the other side of the venue as the engine bay of their Pug went up in flames. Back to the drawing board again then!! Mark Hatton and Wayne Palmer were running just 1 second behind Mike when the strut top of their Renault Clio collapsed. It was however a good shakedown for the new car and Wayne was probably glad to stop as his stomach was not coping with co-driving.

More pics will be posted on a separate page as this one would only allow me to put 2 up.

    WALES RALLY GB

    Sunday, 14 December 2008

Wales Rally GB was a triumph for two BMC members this year, Jason Pritchard was competing and pulled off a great result with 28th overall and first 2 wheel drive car. They also clinched the Citroen C2 Cup and travelled to France to collect their prize in the week. Plenty of miles in the driving seat recently paid off and in very icy conditions Jason and co-driver George Gwynn had a trouble free run. The pair hope to contest some European events next year in the modified Citroen.
Also out on the stages was Martin Leonard who co-drove Richard Iliffe in the zero car for the third year. 'Conditions were truly terrible this year but apart from spluttering out of the ford in Myherin and a spin in Resolven we had a good run'. The car was supplied by M Sport and was used for the recce by Valentino Rossi.

    Y2K & Grizedale

    Wednesday, 10 December 2008

Late again, apologies as I have been on WRGB and it's been difficult to get anything done!

The Y2K went off well for Denis and Clwb Modur Cymru, the event was won by Nick Bloxham in a Peugeot 106. Best BMC was Will Arowsmith who employed the services of Epynt MC's Ceri Davies to lead at petrol before dropping a bit of time and coming in 3rd overall. Their Escort can be seen in the picture above along with Mark Weller who took his new Golf to 17th overall.
Mike Jones and Robin Moses had some small dramas on their way to 14th and the other Arrowsmith, Wayne, hired an Escort from Roger Hicks to take 18th. Matthew Davies and David Thomas were out again in the re-engined Renault 5 and did a good job to come in 25th overall. The only BMC retirements were John & Alex Jones in the Escort and Kevin Tweedy & Zoe Brute in the Mini. Keep persevering Kev!!
On the same weekend, Jason Pritchard travelled to the Grizedale Stages and took a safe 7th in Group N, the rally acting as a warm up for the Wales Rally GB. More news of that in the next report.
