Manx & Hoover Autosolo
Sunday, 13 May 2007
What a weekend, did it rain or what? Good to see BMC members Jason Pritchard & Martin 'Jonesey' Jones out on the little Manx, the Citroen was steaming along nicely until an untimely gearbox problem which in turn put them otl. Still, despite the problem they were setting good class times and managed to get in some good tarmac miles at the same time.
Meanwhile on a slightly smaller scale there was the Ecurie Cymraeg autosolo held on Hoovers car park in Merthyr Tydfil. A number of BMC crews attended and the results can be looked up on the forum. Mike Jones was the top club driver winning the event from martin Leonard's VW Lupo. It has to be said that despite the wet weather it was a really good day and big thanks should go to Chris Jenjins and his fellow organisers.
Welsh Rally 2007 & Night Owl
Monday, 7 May 2007
Despite a fairly meagre entry, the 2007 Welsh Rally ran well without any time consuming accidents which often ruin time schedules. Two members of BMC were out and about, Martin Jones accompanied Austin McKinlay in a Peugeot 205 GTi but this was to be one of Jonesey's shorter rallies as they crashed at Llandeilo'r Fan triangle on stage 1!! There was better news from the other club member, Chris Phillips, who accompanied Baron Von Charles in the usual Escort to a career best 7th overall. Despite a hard week of campaigning for the Talgarth Popular Front in the local elections Chris was remarkably fresh at the finish.
The previous weekend saw Mike Jones & Robin Moses heading to Aberystwyth in search of Welsh Road Rally Championship points. Things were going well for the duo until a driveshaft was damaged and they had to limp to the finish at a much reduced pace. Despite this more points were claimed.
