Two BMC members ventured out to the Isle of Man to compete at the weekend, Jason Pritchard started from number 1 as last years winner but hadn't driven the car since this time last year. A solid start put him in third place after the first very wet stages but by day 2 Melvyn Evans had retired due to mechanical problems which left Paul Bird in a commanding lead. Unfortunately Bird collected a puncture which spelt retirement and Jason controlled the event from the front for the remaining stages steering clear of trouble to take a second consecutive win.

Jon Hawkins had been due to compete with Kevin Tappin but with the car not ready another spin with Simon Mauger became available. The pair struggled a little but still managed a commendable seventh overall and more championship points. The Metro is still a new car so in the circumstances it was a good result.
